Why did you choose International Studies Abroad for your study abroad program?

With all the study abroad programs offered, it was a difficult task to pick the program that would best suited me. I picked ISA because of the classes offered, the housing amenities, and the on-site support staff that was available 24-7. ISA was the best fit for my preferences, but also provided the necessary services I would need while abroad.

What advice do you have to share with students who are planning their study abroad trip to Spain?

I would definitely advise staying with a host family. Not only do you create strong relationship bonds, but it’s also a great way to practice your Spanish! I also would recommend taking every opportunity to partake in Spanish culture.

In what ways was Sevilla the best place for study abroad programs in Spain?

Sevilla is immersed in rich Andalusian (southern Spanish) culture, and has the nicest and most generous people. Sevilla has a bigger city feel in some neighborhoods, while also having smaller, more traditional neighborhoods. It is close to the beach, the weather is warm, the food is delicious, and the nightlife is great. The ISA staff in Sevilla are equally as wonderful as the city. They are extremely helpful, fun, and made my experience the best it could be.

What was your favorite class while studying in Seville?

My favorite class was definitely Spanish Culture. I loved learning about the differing cultures in Spain while also getting to experience much of it. With homework such as eating tapas or going to see a bullfight, it’s hard to find a class that beats that!

How has studying abroad changed you?

Studying abroad helped make me a more open and independent person. I made lifelong friendships all while improving my Spanish. While studying abroad, I realized how important it is to go and travel the world and experience different cultures. I broke out of my comfort zone and found my second home. I am counting down the days until I get to go back to Sevilla!
